Olympic Quick Hits; Days -2, -1, 0 and 1

Olympic Quick Hits; Days -2, -1, 0 and 1 Some of the lowlights I can point out from the Beijing 2008 Opening Ceremony... * China's athletes entering to Jarabe Tapatio. WTF!? * No playing of the Olympics Fanfare & Theme, or Bugler's Dream. * Estonia's threads. Yuck Highlights: * The BOCOG can rest assure that Li Ning was not hurt, or did not fall to his death, when being gurney upward to light the cauldron. * The caligraphy painting, finished off with the athletes leaving their footprint on the parchment, should go to a museum. Or auctioned for untold riches at Sotheby's. * Love the electric taiko and 2008 time a few performers setting things up. * For the cheer girls to have to go through two hours of jumping up and down nonstop is pure guts. * Fireworks. NBC will say this was maybe too much. I say it's not enough fireworks. * HUngary and Russia had some women's suits to die for. Any delegation with handbags gets my vote of the Olympics. --- The USA women's have been doing well in the early going, with a clean sweep of the women's individual sabre, while the USA women's soccer (1-0) and volleyball (3-1) teams trounced Japan. The guys (1-0) beat Japan too. Both sides need a win in their next match to go through. No question, the NEtherlands will be a test for Landon and company. The women's hoops team also ripped apart the Czech Republic. All in all, a good start for the USA. --- Commisserations to the Roughriders of Saskatchewan for finally suffering their first defeat. I think the guys who are injured neet to get healthy fast, or Ken Miller and Eric Tillman are gpoing to need some talented replacements in a hurry. --- Cheers to Aldershot and AFC Wimbledon on winning their first contests in their first seasons in the Football League Two and Football Conference South, respectively.
