ISML 2010: Clannad eliminated, Hinagiku's defense still intact

Hinagiku Katsura's International Saimoe League title defense lives on, while Clannad bows out of the tournament in the second round of the 2010 ISML Tiara Loser's Bracket Round 2.

Katsura kept her hopes alive with a 3696-2538 victory over Saber. Her strongest region was Thailand, carrying 68% of the vote. Major victories in Japan, West Asia, Taiwan, Indonesia and Hong Kong made this victory decisive.

Saber failed to carry her own region of England, part of Western Europe, which voted 54% in favor of the defending champion. She was only able to carry Eastern Europe and Russia, with 68.2% of the vote.

Yuki Nagato defeated Nagi Sanzen'in 3301-2945. Sanzen'in's strongest region came from Thailand, who voted 62% in her favor. But major victories in Russia (who voted overwhelmingly in favor of Nagato—78.2%), Eastern Europe, the USA and Indonesia were more than enough to see Nagi off. Africa was split 50-50 in that contest.

In a rematch of the 2009 2chan Anime Saimoe Tournament final, Taiga Aisaka defeated Yui Hirasawa 3385-2803. Hirasawa's strongest region came from Africa and the Philippines, with 70% and 67.1% of the votes, respectively. Aisaka's victory came from impressive outings in Japan, Indonesia, Eastern and Western Europe, and the Americas. Eastern Europe voted 64.3% in favor of Aisaka.

Aisaka's next opponent is Haruhi Suzumiya. She defeated Tomoyo Sakagami 3199-3023 to keep her run alive. Suzumiya's strongest region was the Philippines, winning 62.8% of the vote. Sakagami's strongest voting region was Africa, winning 66.7% of the vote. But huge victories in the USA, Thailand, China, Russia, Eastern Europe, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Latin America were enough to see Sakagami eliminated.

The match betwween former ISML contestant Matsuri Shihou and Aono Morimiya was not even close. Morimiya could only carry Hong Kong and Indonesia, with 52% and 53.1% of the vote, respectively, as Shihou ran away with a 3128-2412 victory. The USA was Shihou's strongest region, with 70.9% of the vote.

Junko Hattori, personally endorsed by Mio Akiyama, roughed up Korone 2970-2338. Korone was only able to carry Russia and South Korea, with 61.7% and 61.2% of the vote, respectively. Otherwise, Hattori carried every other region with the exception of Eastern Europe, with was divided 50-50. Africa voted 75% in favor of Hattori, and she also score major victories in Thailand, Taiwan and Latin America.

In a battle of Hanamaru Kindergarten rivals, Hinagiku made it a 'Giku Sweep, thumping Hiiragi 3282-1912. Hiiragi was only able to carry Russia, with 56% of the vote. West Asia was the strongest region for Hinagiku, with 74.2%. Hinagiku also scored decisive victories in Hong Kong, the Philippines, Taiwan and Australia.

Mikan Yuuki scored an easy 3544-2529 victory over Hayate Yagami. Yuuki won every region, with Indonesia being the strongest region at 67.4% of the vote. Yuuki also scored decisive victories in Thailand, the Philippines, Japan, Taiwan and Latin America.

Evangeline A.K. McDowell rolled past Kikyou 3253-2632. McDowell laid the hammer down in Indonesia, with 80% of the vote. She also earned decisive victories in Africa, Canada, Australia and Western Europe. Kikyou's strongest region was China, winning 58.4% of the vote.

Wrapping up Tiara Match Day 4, Ryouko Asakura destroyed Yomi Isayama 3504-2502. Isayama was only able to carry Africa, with 70% of the vote. Otherwise, Asakura carried every other region. Her strongest region was Hong Kong, with 64.7% of the vote.

The 2010 International Saimoe League Tiara phase rolls on with Match Day 5, the Winner's Bracket Round 2. Mikoto Misaka will look to place a dent in Shana's late-season form, while Azusa Nakano in intent in stopping Mio Akiyama from getting another possible crack at the Flame Haze before too long.
