Kanade Tachibana wins Amethyst Necklace, Victorique de Blois takes Brooch

By Jo-Ryan Salazar

Kanade Tachibana has won International Saimoe League necklaces before, but the Amethyst is a necklace she had yet to win...until now. With 2,667 votes, Tachibana earned a score of 157.578 to win the 2014 ISML Amethyst Necklace. Tachibana defeated Kurumi Tokisaki, who earned 2323 votes to earn a calculation of 150.333.

"I think this was a great way to end the month of May, what do you think?" asked Tachibana to the press, surrounded by her husband, Yuzuru Otonashi; Yui-nyan, Yuri Nakamura and Masami Iwasawa. "I want to thank everyone on my team for keeping faith alive. While I have won the Tiara before, it's nice to win things I had yet to win. It gives me a good feeling."

"It's going to take us time for us to break past some of the stronger forces in the Stella," Tokisaki said at her press conference in Osaka, surrounded by Yoshino, Origami Tobiiichi, Tohka Yatogami and Kotori Itsuka. "I did all I could to challenge her, but Kanade's bastion of voters is very consistent and loyal. Two or three years will pass, and they will still vote for her, unless the rules change. I do think I will win one of the other necklaces up for grabs."

Ruri Gokou was third, earning 1182 votes for a score of 106.710. "I was hoping to defend my Amethyst, but if I were to lose this necklace, it would be at the hands of an equal. Kanade is just that, and so I congratulate her for adding another to her resume, I guess."

With 881 votes, Kotori Itsuka was fourth with a score of 105.982. "Either Kurumi or myself will win the next necklace," Itsuka said at the press conference with Tokisaki. "That's all I'm going to say. The next necklace belongs to Team Date A Live."

Eucliwood Hellscythe had 824 votes to finish fifth with a score of 92.254. "This was going to be an uphill battle, with Kanade in the field," Hellscythe said via her interpreter, Ayumu Aikawa. "I don't think Kurumi was going to stand a chance and obviously, I was out of this one. This was Kanande's to lose."

Yoshino was sixth with 617 votes and a calculation of 86.197. "I don't see myself gaining any necklaces among those still in contention," said Yoshino through her puppet, Yoshinon. "But I will get my wins and I will be among the last 32 still standing. It should be pretty straightforward."

Tsukiko Tsutsukakushi was last, with 650 votes and a calculation of 85.008. "I consider myself an outsider compared to those contending for a necklace," Tsutsukakushi said at her press conference in Tokyo. "It was a decent effort, by my standards. I didn't stand a chance, but at least there were people who supported me in this part of the regular season."

Victorique de Blois takes the Amethyst Brooch after winning 1780 votes. Chocolat was second with 1656 votes, Masami Iwasawa had 1367 votes, Karuta Roromiya has 1283 votes, Rin Natsume had 1265 votes, Charlotte Belew had 1229 votes and Shouko Kirishima, to the disappointment of the Bedlam on Baltic Avenue, had 1200 votes.

"This was an even match and people were divided on who deserves to win," de Blois said at her press conference. "Personally, I would like thank the people in Western Europe, the USA and Latin America for giving me their support, but I have a feeling this is all I'm going to win. In fact, I will be surprised if these same voters place me in the postseason. Winning this brooch allows me to take a more realistic approach to the rest of the season."

Sayaka Kirsaka won the first of two other exhibitions, winning 2283 votes. Mui Aiba won 1813 votes, Claire Cruz won 1186 votes, Hajime won 689 votes, Hime Shirayuki won 592 votes, Peach Maki had 475 votes and Adelie was last with 449 votes. Finally, Renge Miyauchi flew the flag for Non Non Biyori, winning 1705 vortes. Frenda Seivelun earned 1649 votes, Subaru Konoe won 1661 votes, Kyouko Sakura won 1496 votes, Yuiko Kurugaya won 1489 votes, Ukanomitama-no-kami earned 710 votres and Minori was last with 661 votes.

CARSON, Calif. – "Surprising and disappointing."
That's Landon Donovan's reaction to Jurgen Klinsmann's decision to omit him from the US national team's 23-man World Cup roster, saying the news came as a shock and that he believes he deserves to be headed to Brazil.
The 32-year-old attacker, a veteran of three World Cups, star addressed media following the LA Galaxy's training session Saturday morning at StubHub Center, saying he appreciated the “overwhelming” support he's received since the 23-man roster was announced Thursday and imploring Americans to support the team in Brazil.
Donovan, the all-time US leader in goals (57) and assists (58), in 156 international appearances, was nearly certain that he was going to be among the group.
“Based on my performances leading up to camp, based on my preparation for the camp, based on my fitness, based on my workload, based on the way I trained and played in camp,” he said, “I not only thought I was part of the 23, I thought I was in contention to start. So that's why this has all been pretty disappointing.”
Donovan, who will play in the Galaxy's home clash against the Philadelphia Union on Sunday evening (8 pm ET, UDN), said his performance at the Stanford University sessions had him believing he could “contribute in a real big way, probably bigger than I expected going in.”
He said he would, “of course,” join the group if recalled because of an injury to another player, but “I don't wish anyone ill will. I hope everyone stays healthy.”
Klinsmann, on Friday, held a press conference to discuss his roster choices and reiterated what he said earlier in the week about Donovan's exclusion: "The coaches feel that the players we chose are a little step a head of Landon in certain areas," Klinsmann said. "At this moment we feel that the other players – without naming any of those guys – are a tiny little bit ahead of him."
The manager declined to detail the areas are in which Donovan was behind others, and on Saturday, Donovan assessed his own performance during the 10 days he was at Stanford University.
“I don't agree with that assessment,” he said. “I think I was at least as good as everyone else in camp, so from that standpoint, I don't agree with it. I think you guys who know me well know I'm pretty honest when it comes to my assessment. When I say I don't play well, I didn't play well; when I say I played well, In think I played well, and I think I trained and played very well in camp.
“I think I was one of the better players. and so that's why it stings a little. I think at the end of the day, like I said before camp, if I had gone in and didn't feel like I deserved it, then I can live with that. But that's not the case here.”
He also noted that “coaches make decisions, and you have to live with that and respect that. Do we agree with it always? No. That the part that has been hard for me. I firmly believe that not only should I be going, but I feel like I really deserve it and not from anything I did in the past, but from what I've done over the last week and a half.”
Donovan, who learned he was not in the 23 following Thursday's training session in Northern California, was asked about rumblings of a personal incident in the past with Klinsmann. His answer was succinct.
“I think if I'm being judged solely on what happened in camp, then I absolutely deserved to be going to Brazil.”
He said he “absolutely” would repeat, if he could change things, the four-month sabbatical he took following the 2012 MLS season, that “I actually think I've been a much better player since I came back.”
He says he hasn't pondered the future of his international career, but imagines “that if I'm given another opportunity, that I would, assuming that I'm still capable.”
Klinsmann, when he announced the 30-man roster, said he saw Donovan as a forward rather than a midfielder, and so it is assumed Donovan was compared solely to the other forwards in camp. He was asked whether Klinsmann might have pigeonholed him and failed to take into account his versatility.
“I think one of the real attributes in my entire career has been my ability to play in a lot of different positions, a lot of different roles,” Donovan said. “Although I'm an attacking player, I think I help the team in certain ways, I think I help the team get results in certain ways, even when it's not attacking-wise. I think I have a lot of versatility, and I think my experiences over the years have contributed to me being able to do that, so I think that I would have been able to help in a lot of ways.”
The response from fans, media and colleagues, most struggling to make sense of Klinsmann's decision, has been heartening.
“The amount of support I've had has been – I mean, overwhelming is the best word I can use,” Donovan said. “The responses and messages I've had from fans, from friends, from family, from my teammates in camp, from my staff at camp, from my teammates here and coaching staff, it's really been pretty amazing.
“And someone said to me, and I think it's true, a lot of times you don't hear those kind of messages unless, unfortunately, you're already dead, at a funeral. So some of these things I heard were really uplifting, sort of validates the way I feel about myself as a player and a person.”
He said he would not speak again on Klinsmann's decision, that he wants “to focus on the Galaxy and doing what I need to do here, and I really urge people to support the [US] team.
“Because going to a World Cup is an unbelievable experience, and I don't want there to be a negative tint to any of this. We're all professionals, we're all men, and we have to handle things like this. But I think it's important that we support our team and support our nation. They need us.”

I Won't Let Go

I watch you from afar
Can't reach your burning star
Still I will keep you safe in my sight
I know we hardly speak
But your words I can complete
I have built you up too high to talk you down

And I won't let go
I won't let go of you
There's no limit to my love
No limit to my love
I won't let go my love

Can't step over the line
And you don't give me any sign
So I will take a deep breath and rise up
I live unnaturally
Half with you half with me
All my words lay wasted at your feet

And I won't let go
I won't let go of you
There's no limit to my love
No limit to my love
I won't let go my love

Can't you see I'm waiting for you to come back to me
I never left you only you can choose what you wanna see
What can I do?
I'm still in love with you

And I won't let go
I won't let go of you
There's no limit to my love
No limit to my love
I won't let go my love...

One Fine Morning

One fine morning, girl, I'll wake up
Wipe the sleep from my eyes
Go outside and feel the sunshine
Then I know I'll realize
That as long as you love me, girl, we'll fly

And on that mornin' when I wake up
I'll see your face inside a cloud
See your smile inside a window
Hear your voice inside a crowd
Calling, "Come with me baby and we'll fly"

Yeah, we'll fly-y-y, yeah, we'll fly
We'll fly-y-y, yeah, we'll fly

And on that mornin' when I wake up
We'll go outside and live our dreams
I'll buy you candies made of stardust
And little dolls dressed up in moonbeams
And everywhere we go we'll laugh and sing

I'll kiss you morning, noon and night
And all the universe will smile on us
'Cause they know that our love is finally right

Yeah, we'll fly-y-y, yeah, we'll fly
We'll fly-y-y, yeah, we'll fly

Yeah, we'll fly to the east, we'll fly to the west
There'll be no place we can't call our own
Yeah, we'll fly to the north, we'll fly to the south
Every planet will become our home

Yeah, we'll fly-y-y, yeah, we'll fly
Yeah, we'll fly to the east, we'll fly to the west
There'll be no place we can't call our own
We'll fly to the north, we'll fly to the south
Every planet will become our home
