ISML 2009: Can anyone stop the Dolls from running away with this one?

July 29, 2009

As match day 4 in the 2009 International Saimoe League Ruby necklace phase concluded, the question brought up was: can anyone stop the Rozen Maiden Alice Dolls from hogging the spotlight?

Another sweep meant that Suiseiseki landed at the top of the rankings, with Spice and Wolf's Horo hungry for her first necklace of her career trailing behind.

The wolf goddess of legend and the defending Korean champion chomped up Maria 1596-1283 in Santiago.

Suiseiseki had no problems defeating Evangeline A.K. McDowell 1835-833 in Seoul. Suigintou crushed Kirino Chiba 2111-786 in Mexico City. Shinku faced the toughest test of the three in Mei Sunohara, and even she prevailed, with a 1689-1126 win in New York.

Fate Testarossa Harlaown also had an easy outing. The defending champion trounced cupcake Amu Hinamori 1766-878 in Lagos.

This was a day in which the TSAB scored another rare sweep. Vita prevailed over Kallen Kozuki (Stadtfeld) 1133-1009 in Bogota. Hayate Yagami was all business against hapless Tamaki Kawazoe, winning 1198-885 in Sydney and Nanoha Takamachi made a statement with a 1675-1271 victory over Saber.

The Bedlam on Baltic Avenue and Bongaboi previously reported that Touhou is officially down for the count. Apparently, Reimu Hakurei is not out of it yet. Shiki Ryogi confirmed it, losing 1381-1148 in Moscow.

Also confirming a sweep were the girls of Higurashi. Konata Izumi's relevance seems to be questioned with her 1425-1200 defeat to Hanyuu Furude in Shanghai. Rena Ryuuguu took care of business with a 1492-1303 win over Sayuri Kurata in London, and Rika Furude prevailed over Mai Kawasumi 1519-1342 in Los Angeles.

Shana remained in the top spot with her 2157-666 blowout of Remilia Scarlet in Buenos Aires. Taking this biggest drop in the overall rankings was Mikuru Asahina, who lost a 1793-1267 howler to Nagi Sanzen'in in Dhaka.

In other action...Alice Carroll ran it up on Ayumu "Osaka" Kasuga 1615-636 in Mumbai, Haruhi Suzumiya kept pace over Shana with a 2062-762 blowout of Nagi in Sao Paulo, Rin Tosaka defeated Konjiki no Yami (Golden Darkness) 1671-1247 in Karachi, Kotomi Ichinose sounded off Akari Mizunashi 1896-698 in Manila, Fuuko Ibuki routed Sakura Kinomoto 1804-1159 in Cairo and Ami Kawashima won a 1437-1395 thriller over Misuzu Kamio in Jakarta.

In Paris, Yuuhi Katagiri chalked up a 1443-949 win over Mikoto Misaka, C.C. was too good for Louise Francoise Le Blance De La Valliere in a 1654-1252 victory in Istanbul, Hinagiku Katsura scored an impressive 1752-1233 slashing of Taiga Aisaka in Tehran and Illyasviel von Einzbern stomped Chii 1616-992 in Bangkok.

Prohibitorum 1246-944 in Kinshasa, Nagisa Furukawa crushed Nayuki Minase 1707-1055 in Toronto, Yuki Nagato was all business in a 1680-811 walloping of Makoto Sawatari in Milan, Shiori Misaka took down Anya Earlstreim 1459-1057 in Madrid, Kagami Hiiragi dismembered Patchouli Knowledge 1738-709 in Santo Domingo and Tomoyo Sakagami pasted Aya Shameimaru without breaking a sweat, winning 2033-644 in Katowice.
