ISML 2012: It's Kanade vs. Eucliwood for the Tiara!
ISML 2012: It's Kanade vs. Eucliwood for the Tiara!
By JR Salazar
October 26, 2012
It is official: Eucliwood Hellscythe will face Kanade Tachibana for the coveted ISML Tiara on Sunday, October 28, 2012. Hellscythe silenced Taiga Aisaka 5966-4542, winning every region except Russia and Vietnam. Tachibana will come into the contest as an overwhelming favorite to claim the crown for Angel Beats!. Aisaka and Ruri Gokou will contest third place on Sunday.
More classification matches took place 2011 champion Mikoto Misaka prevailed over Yuki Nagato 5296-4970. Nagato could only win the USA, Canada, Indonesia, Russia, Eastern Europe, Japan, Korea and Thailand. Big victories in Africa, Western Europe and China propelled the Railgun to the victory.
Mio Akiyama pulled off an upset over Azusa Nakano, 5262-4505, to secure her case as the most consistent K-ON! contestant in the world's premier competition. It was unbelievably one-sided, as the only regions Nakano won were Africa, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Taiwan. Mikoto and Mio will face off for fifth place, while the seventh-place match will be between Yuki and Azusa.
Yui edged Saber 5253-5024, but the result couldn't have been more one-sided. All Saber could secure was Russia, the Middle East and South Asia, China, Korea, Japan, Thailand and Vietnam. Big victories in Europe, Australia, Africa and the Americas propelled Yui to the win.
Shana torched Yuri Nakamura in one of the more decisive contests of the day, a 6015-4228 rout. The only regions Nakamura was able to win were Eastern Europe and Russia. Yui and Shana will battle for ninth place, while Nakamura and Saber will contest 11th place on Sunday.
It's been a very disappointing campaign for Haruhi Suzumiya, one of the older ISML veterans, but she still proved that she can pack a punch, defeating Kobato Hasegawa 5261-4974. The only regions Hasegawa was able to win were Thailand, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the U.S.A. and Indonesia. Huge efforts in Australia, Russia, Africa, Eastern Europe, China and Latin America proved vital for Haruhi.
Kirino Kousaka salvaged a bit of pride when she cruised past Sena Kashiwazaki 5471-4309. Again, this was another one-sided contest, with Kashiwazaki only winning Latin America, Eastern Europe, Japan and the Philippines. Big victories in the U.S.A., China, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and Africa propelled Kousaka to the win.
Three other exhibitions took place on Tiara 10. Eru Chitanda routed Rea Sanka 6029-3648, affirming her status as a lock to qualify at next year's ISML. Chitanda won every region except Latin America, won by Sanka. Another lock for next year, Kuroyukihime, flattened Tsumiki Miniwa, 6349-3404. The only regions Miniwa were able to win were the U.S.A., Korea, Japan and Africa. Huge wins in China, Europe, Canada, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Southeast Asia powered the Butterfly to the victory.
Finally, in a battle of the Ringos, it was Ringo Akai that got the best of Ringo Oginome, 4277-3335. Oginome was only able to win Russia, Eastern Europe and Japan. Akai was particularly dominant in Australia, the Philippines, New Zealand, the Middle East and South Asia, Malaysia, Taiwan and Papua New Guinea.
So, it's come to this. The final battle for the ISML Tiara. Who will become the next leader of the Free Saimoe World? Will it be Kanade "Tenshi" Tachibana? Or will it be the silent killer, Eucliwood "Eu" Hellscythe? Match Day 11, the final day of the 2012 International Saimoe League postseason, and the final day of the 2012 ISML season, is scheduled for Sunday, October 28, 2012. Vote for your favorite candidates at InternationalSaimoe.com and join the ongoing debate!

ISML 2012: Kanade punches her ticket to the Tiara final
ISML 2012: Kanade punches her ticket to the Tiara final
By JR Salazar
October 24, 2012
It was not even close. Despite victories in Russia and Latin America, losses across the board in the other regions spelled doom for Ruri Gokou as she was sliced and diced by Kanade Tachibana, 7594-3438. The wife of Yuzuru Otonashi, Tachibana will take on either Taiga Aisaka or Eucliwood Hellscythe. Meanwhile, a number of classification matches took place.
Yuki Nagato stormed past Saber, 5741-4972, winning every region except Vietnam, Hong Kong and Malaysia. Azusa Nakano romped past Yuri Nakamura, 5953-4848. Despite victories in the U.S.A., the Middle East and South Asia, Korea and Vietname, heavy victories in the other regions proved to be too much for Nakamura to overcome.
Having stepped from her office at the leader of the free moe world, Mikoto Misaka bounced back with a 5938 electrocution of Yui, winning every region except Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan and Indonesia. And Mio Akiyama added to Shana's wounds, prevailing 5871-5031 thanks to big victories in Canada, the U.S.A, Europe, Africa, Russia, Australia, Papua New Guinea, the Middle East and South Asia, Korea, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Japan. Shana was particilarly strong in Malaysia, Latin American and Vietnam.
It seems that Haganai is not worth its weight in gold, as the gold standard for moe, Haruhi Suzumiya, won ever region except Africa, Thailand, Korea, Hong Kong and Japan in a 5995-4616 barbecue. However, Kobata Hasegawa pulled off a 5415-5081 upset of Kirino Kousaka, capping off a forgettable day for Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai. Hasegawa was particularly strong in Europe, Canada, Latin America, all of Southeast Asia, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
A close race between Ririchiyo Shirakiin and Karen Araragi saw the demon girl take the sting out of the bee, 5137-4982. Shirakiin was particularly strong in Malaysia and Taiwan, where she obliterated Karen. Ririchiyo also won the vote in Africa, Canada, China, the Middle East and South Asia and Hong Kong. Karen's biggest victories came in the U.S.A., Russia and Eastern Europe.
Karen's sister, Tsukihi, fared much better, winning a 5,168-5080 thriller over Mei Misaki. Misaki's strongest victories came in Africa, the Philippines, the Middle East and South Asia, Russia, Malaysia and Indonesia. However, the Phoenix rose in the Americas, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Papua New Guineas, Thailand, Korea and Japan.
Finally, Nanami Nishijou prevailed over Kuu Shiratori 4227-3726. Nishijou won every region except the Middle East and South Asia, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Korea, where Shiratori won handily.

There will be a new International Saimoe League Champion. Match Day 8 of the 2012 International Saimoe League postseason saw the old guard pass on to the new up-and-comers. And now there is a 3-in-4 chance that this year's champion will hail from the Nova Division.
In a riveting semifinal between former ISML Champion Mio Akiyama and Taiga Aisaka, it was the Palmtop Tiger becoming the last Stella Division representative standing by way of a 5803-5695 thriller. Solid victories in China, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Eastern Europe, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Papua New Guinea, Australia and New Zealand propelled Aisaka to the win. Akiyama was able to win the rest of the regions but it wasn't enough.
The defending champion, Mikoto Misaka, fell to Eucliwood Hellscythe, who silenced her in emphatic fashion, 6480-4920. Misaka was only able to win Russia and Latin America. Everyone other region was won by Hellscythe, making her the No. 1 threat to the presumptive Tiara favorite, Kanade Tachibana.
In the first of two classification matches, Yui rocked Sena Kashiwazaki 6939-4202, dominating every region except Thailand. Shana isn't going to win the Tiara this year, but while she is hanging on in Japan, she won every region except Thailand, Korea, Japan and Russia en route to a huge 6606-4596 victory over Kobato Hasegawa.
Six other exhibitions took place. Tsukihi Araragi, who had a solid campaign in the Anime Saimoe Tournament, continued her hotstreak, winning big in Russia, the USA, Europe, China, Japan, Papua New Guinea, Australia and New Zealand en route to a 3851-3546 decision over Koneko Toujou, who won the rest except for Malaysia, won by Karuta Roromiya, who earned a respectable 3328 votes.
Tsumuki Miniwa is the face of Acchi Kocchi, and she throttled Chris, 4224-3821. Sakura Matou was third with 2722 votes. Miniwa won the USA, Latin America, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and South Asia, the Philippines, Thailand, Australia, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, Indonesia, Japan and Korea. Chris was only able to win Canada, China, Vietnam, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. All Matou was able to win...was Russia.
Another competitor on a hotstreak is the face of Another, Mei Misaki, who overpowered Mayou Hachikuji, 5402-2824. Ai Nanasaki was third with 2330 votes. Misaki won every region except Japan, which was won by Nanasaki. Another one-sided performance came from Kuroyukihime, who won every region except for Russia and Korea en route to a 6361-2485 rout of Mayaka Ibara, who could only win Korea. Yuuko Kanoe, who took Russia, was third with 2039 votes.
Kotoko Aihara of Itazura no Kiss won her exhibition handily, defeated Lovely Complex's Risa Koizumi 3764-1671. Nanami Takahashi was third with 1570 votes. Aihara won every region except RUssia and Eastern Europe, which went to Koizumi, and Africa, won by Takahashi.
Finally, very few expected Akari Akaza to have it tough against Kyouko of Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka, but she worked hard to secure her 4761-4163 victory, winning every region except Latin America, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan, all won by Kyouko. Fin E Ld Si Laffinty was third with a paltry 1339 votes.
With our semifinal field set, the show goes on in our race for the coveted ISML Tiara. Match Day 9 of the 2012 International Saimoe League Postseason is scheduled for October 23, 2012. Vote for your favorite candidates at InternationalSaimoe.com and join the ongoing debate.

ISML 2012: Kanade and Ruri to the Semis
ISML 2012: Kanade and Ruri to the Semis
By JR Salazar
October 19, 2012
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is apparently losing its relevance, as a couple of its heavyweights went down to defeat in Match Day 7 of the 2012 International Saimoe League postseason. Meanwhile, Kanade Tachibana has positioned herself as the competitor to beat in the race for the Tiara.
Tachibana won ever region en route to a 7,851-2,362 slicing and dicing of Yuri Nakamura. Ruri Gokou rolled to a 6,133-4,361 win over Yuki Nagato. Gokou scored victories in the U.S.A., Japan, Chiba, Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Western Europe, Africa, Latin America, Korea, and the Middle East and South Asia. Nagaton won Indonesia, Canada, Russia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Eastern Europe, Australia, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand.
A very divisive race between Saber and Haruhi Suzumiya saw the face of Fate/Stay Night prevail, 5,270-4,970. Saber was paced by victories in Canada, China, Korea, all of Southeast Asia except the Philippines, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Africa, the Middle East and South Asia. Haruhi, meanwhile, took the States, Latin America, all of Europe, Russia, Japan, Australia, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand. Meanwhile, it was very one-sided for Azusa Nakano, who won every region except Korea and the United States en route to a 6,043-4,176 victory over Kirino Kousaka.
Six other exhibitions took place. Karen Araragi, riding on the Bakemonogatari ticket, cruised toa 4,420-2,920 victory over Miu Takanashi. Charlotte Orleans was third with 2,454 votes. Araragi won every region except Hong Kong, Taiwan and Malaysia, which were won by Takanashi.
Ririchiyo Shirakiin, who fought well in her Round 3 defeat to Kuro Matsumi in the 2012 2channel Anime Saimoe Tournament, has the support of the world in her 4,761-2,819 win over Tsubasa Hanekawa. Henrietta de Tristain was third with 2,221 votes. Shirakiin won ever region with the exception of Eastern Europe and Russia, won by Hanekawa. An opponent that Shirakiin defeated in the AST, Eru Chitanda, also has the support of the world, crushing Nyarlathotep, 5,275-3,427. Eru won every region on the map except Japan, which was taken by Nyaruko.
The exhibition between Rea Sanka, Yuki Yoshida and Toki Onjouji was a clear example of the differences between the Anime Saimoe Tournament and the ISML. As a general rule, most shows that dominate in 2channel are dominated in return in ISML. And notable characters that are outvoted in 2channel are more likely to earn votes worldwide. Sanka, who is a longshot to qualify for the Regular Season next year, won this one, earning 4,408 votes. Yoshida was second with 3,704 votes, while Onjouji was third with 1,718 votes. Even though Onjouji is the favorite to win 2channel, she is not even popular in her own region, which was won by Yoshida. Yoshida also won Korea, Canada, the U.S.A. and Latin America. Sanka, however, scored big wins in the other regions. It will be interesting to see how this zombie matches up next season in the preliminaries.
Utena Tenjou, who will not be seeing any action in the regular season or the preliminaries any time soon, defeated Fuu 2,506-1,831. Nadja Applefield was third with 1,257 votes. Tenjou earned victories in Canada, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Africa, Australia, New Zeland and Papua New Guinea. Fuu won the other regions up for grabs.
Finally, 2ch AST participant Mayu Morita may be an even bigger longshot to be in next year's ISML regular season, but she defeated Nono Nekomiya 2,898-2,136. Kana Hagino was third with 1,692 votes. Morita won ever region except Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia, won by Nekomiya.
Match Day 8 of the 2012 International Saimoe League postseason is scheduled for October 20, 2012. Vote for your favorite characters at InternationalSaimoe.com and join the ongoing debate.

ISML 2012: Tiara Quarterfinals now set
ISML 2012: Tiara Quarterfinals now set
By JR Salazar
October 17, 2012
The 2channel Anime Saimoe Tournament rolls on, and so does the 2012 International Saimoe League postseason with Tiara Match Day 6. The Stella Division struck back, with its finest taking three of the four Round of 16 matches on tap.
Mio Akiyama, fresh off a solid 2channel AST performance that ended in defeat to fellow ISML competitor Sena Kashiwazaki, bounced back with a 6,251-4,576 rout of Yui. Mio won just about every region there is to win with the exception of Vietnam, won by Yui. Sena wasn't able to translate her success in Japan to an upset victory over Taiga Aisaka, as the Palmtop Tiger won every region en route to a 7,103-3,548 annihilation.
Defending champion Mikoto Misaka is out to prove that it will not be easy to win her crown, as she thoroughly waxed Kobato Hasegawa, 6,212-4,450. The only regions Hasegawa was able to win were Eastern Europe, Thailand, Australia, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand. Meanwhile, Shana seems to be on the downswing. While she is still relevant in Japan, she was embarassed by Eucliwood Hellscythe, 5,771-4,994. Hellscythe won Canada, Korea, the USA, eastern and Western Europe, Thailand, Indonesia and Africa. Shana won Jaspan, Latin America, the Middle East and South Africa, Malaysia, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and New Zealand.
As with Tiara 5, Tiara 6 saw six exhibitions take place. Mei Misaki will be a name that will pop up at the preliminaries next year after demolising Sora Takanashi 5,372-3,733. Misaki won every region, with the exception of Hong Kong and Taiwan, won by Takanashi. Chiaki Kurihara was third with 974 votes. Mayoi Hachikuji, riding on the Bakemonogatariu ticket, made easy work of Kanna Tanigawa, 5,028-2,439. Hachikuji won every region in this match.
Tsumiki Miniwa is a longshot to punch her ticket to the Nova next year, but she is still relevant, as she flattened Oda Nobunaga and Riko Aida with 5,991 votes, winning every region. Nobunaga was second with 1,776 votes and Aida earned just 1,308 votes. Riding on the Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka ticket, Chris demolished Saki Mizukoshi 6,812-2,049, winning every region handily. Hanako Tanaka was third with a paltry 560 votes.
Koyori Ishizuki, flying the flag for sola, defeated Nanako Dojima 4,470-2,320. Dojima won Russia and Korea, while Murasaki Kuhoin, who earned 878 votes, won Japan. The rest of the regions were won by Ishizuki. Finally, Kaguya Sumeragi, riding on the Code Geass ticket, prevailed over Ren Mikihara 4,352-2,318, winning every region along the way. Aoi Futaba was third with 1,728 votes.
Match Day 7 of the 2012 International Saimoe League postseason is scheduled for October 18, 2012. Vote for your favorite candidates at InternationalSaimoe.com and join the ongoing debate.
