Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Super Bowl LV Champions

Grand hopes for the Kansas City Chiefs of becoming the NFL's next dynasty were expunged emphatically by the one-man dynasty known as Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A slow start for both squads transitioned to Brady and Todd Bowles' Bucs defense dominating Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs in the latter's bid for a title repeat. Brady threw for three touchdowns and the Bucs' pass rush stymied Mahomes as the Buccaneers defeated the Chiefs, 31-9, on Sunday in Super Bowl LV at Tampa's Raymond James Stadium. The Buccaneers became the first team to win a Super Bowl in their host stadium and Brady brought home his seventh Super Bowl title in his first season with Tampa Bay after six title runs with the New England Patriots.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31, Kansas City Chiefs 9

1) The Greatest Of All Time wrote another chapter in his legendary career. Tom Brady won his seventh Super Bowl and fifth SB MVP award. TB12 connected with his old New England buddy, Rob Gronkowski, for two first-half TDs as the Bucs sprinted out to a double-digit lead they'd never relinquish. Behind a dominant offensive line, Brady was comfortable start to finish, getting the ball out quick and taking shots when needed. The 43-year-old completed 21-of-29 passes for 201 yards and three first-half touchdowns. Gronk, who unretired to join Brady for another Super Bowl run, exploded, gashing the Chiefs up the seam time and time again. The TE led the Bucs with six caches for 67 yards and the two TDs. Gronk's best two games this season came against K.C. (6/106 in Week 12). With Mike Evans (1/31) and Chris Godwin (2/9) slowed, it was Gronk that carried the passing load. The future Hall of Fame TE returned to chase a fourth Super Bowl ring. In the biggest game of the year, Gronk stole the spotlight. After a slow start to the season, the Bucs gelled down the stretch, as Brady teams often do. Winning three road playoff games earned the Bucs the chance to play a home Super Bowl game. In front of those home fans, the Bucs lifted their second franchise Lombardi Trophy.

2) Todd Bowles was the true MVP of Super Bowl LV. The Buccaneers defensive coordinator called a masterful game that had Patrick Mahomes scrambling for his life, holding the ball, and gave the Chiefs no deep shots. Bowles dropped safeties deep to negate Tyreek Hill's speed and funnel everything underneath. The Bucs were ready for Andy Reid's normal counter, sniffing out every screen K.C. tried. Devin White was a menace, discombobulating every snap. Lavonte David helped smother Travis Kelce. Blanketing the field deep, not allowing a completion of 20-plus air yards to an offense that feasts off such plays, the Bucs controlled the game. The most dominant aspect of the game came from Tampa's defensive front, which throttled an injured Chiefs O-line. The Bucs often were through the line a second after the snap, causing Mahomes to retreat on first step. Tampa destroyed backup Chiefs offensive tackles with Shaquil Barrett constantly in Mahomes' face. The Bucs pressured Mahomes on 32.7% of his snaps while only blitzing on five snaps, per Next Gen Stats. The Bucs held Mahomes to 114 yards through three quarters and kept the Chiefs out of the end zone, earning two INTs of the star QB. It was as thorough a beating as Mahomes has experienced, and the first double-digit loss of his NFL career.

3) The Chiefs offensive line struggled brutally. We knew entering with backup tackles on both the left and right sides would make life difficult on Mahomes. The extent to which they struggled, particularly Mike Remmers on the left side, can't be overstated. Mahomes was running for his life all game, needing a Herculean effort just to get the ball out. Some of the best plays of the game came from the Chiefs QB scrambling for his life to heave prayers that fell incomplete. Even the brilliance of Mahomes couldn't overcome the offensive line issues Sunday. Mahomes was forced to scramble on 28.6% of his snaps, per NGS, completing just five of 14 throws with an INT on such plays. Even when the QB appeared to have time, it was clear he didn't trust it would last long enough to sit tight in the pocket. It's the latest reminder that even with speed, talent and weapons for days, football is still a game won in the trenches.

4) While the K.C. offensive line struggled, the Bucs' hogs dictated the contest from start to finish. The Tampa offensive line opened up holes for a churning rushing attack that milked the clock late and allowed Leonard Fournette to scamper untouched to the end zone. Ryan Jensen, Tristan Wirfs, Ali Marpet, Donovan Smith and Aaron Stinnie deserve praise for controlling the contest. Brady was sacked midway through the first quarter. The Chiefs rush barely touched him from thereon. When K.C. tried to dial up pressure, it was for naught, as the Bucs blockers, occasionally with help from Gronk, sealed the pocket. Brady was sacked just once and hit twice the entire game. The Bucs gave up pressure on just four snaps, per Next Gen Stats (compare that to Mahomes under pressure on 14 snaps). When the GOAT is given that sort of time, he's free to thrash the defense.

ISML 2020: Mikoto Misaka Nears History In The Making

By Jo-Ryan Salazar

The Bedlam On Baltic Avenue

February 7, 2021

Mikoto Misaka, who last served as Saimoe Prime Minister in 2011 and has been, on numerous occassions, named Saimoe Leader of the Free World, is tipped by the Bedlam on Baltic Avenue to win a historic second term after defeating Kaguya Shinomiya 7995-7651. However, her opponent is hoping to emulate Hachiman Hikigaya in leading the OreGaIru Party to glory, and that is Hachiman's wife Yukino Yukinoshita, who defeated Mai Sakurajima 7960-6813.

The vanquished's male counterparts, however, will get a chance to be named Deputy Saimoe Prime Minister. Miyuki Shirogane is projected to give the Kaguya Party convincing clout after demolishing Yuu Ishigami 8107-5307. However, Sakuta Azusagawa lost his initial attempt at winning the seat last year to Rimuru Tempest and will hope that it isn't same song, second verse after delivering a 7474-6540 statement win over Touma Kamijou. A diverse blend of leadership is expected when the new government is announced this week following Election Day.

In Tiara Consolation action, Ai Hayasaka rolled past Chika Fujiwara 7026-6086, Rikka Takanashi rocked Rin Tohsaka 7045-6950, Asuna Yuuki slashed past Misaki Shokuhou 7852-6444, Mashiro Shiina won the closest race of the round, a 6985-6955 nailbiter over Emilia, Iroha Isshiki defeated Yui Yuigahama 6506-5925, Megumin exploded past Shiro 6703-6167, Kuroko Shirai prevailed over Utaha Kasumigaoka 7052-6946, Kurumi Tokisaki shot down Nao Tomori 6852-6151, Kaede Azusagawa defeated Chino Kafuu 6520-6334 and Ruiko Saten drove past Mio Akiyama 6783-6680.

In Scepter Consolation action, Tanjiro Kamado rushed past Rintarou Okabe 6666-5995 in the Upset of the Round, Levi leveled Subaru Natsuki 6528-6300, Yuuta Togashi prevailed over Kazuma Satou 6214-6149, Riku Dola roared past Ryuuji Takasu 6910-5311, Taki Tachibana took down Kiritsugu Emiya 7125-5318, Saika Totsuka punched Saitama 6517-6180, Sorata Kanda defeated Yuzuru Otonashi 5869-5442, Lelouch Lamperouge eased past Gilgamesh 6087-5585 and Shirou Emiya dominated Archer 5967-5136.

Finally, in special exhibition play, Hougetsu Shimamura routed Hina Tsurugi 6041-3917, Michiru Hyoudo rocked Rena Ryuuguu 6872-4188, Aliceliese Lou Nebulis IX thumped Tooru Honda 5734-4761 and Aurura Suya Rhys Kaymin destroyed Rosetta 5926-4486.

Match Day 8 of the 2020 International Saimoe League is the general election for the Saimoe Prime Minister and Deputy Saimoe Prime Minister positions. The election is on February 9, 2021. Vote for your favorites at InternationalSaimoe.com and join the ongoing debate.

S.O.S. - Cream Version

Sleepless nights, I'm lying awake

Heaven up off to whiskey and you

Lusting love, I have it to break

I don't have what it takes, to get through

So I tried to call you, on the telephone

I'm waiting for others although that is wrong

And I know us like, to be lusting tonight

On a real romance, give me just one more chance

I'm sending an S.O.S.

A love that is straight to your heart

I'm sending an S.O.S.

Sinking and falling apart

Deja vu, can't take anymore

Lying twisted and marooned by love

Can't deny, is our love true?

Like a drug man can't get enough!

I'm sending an S.O.S.

ISML 2020: Elaina Wins Speaker Of The Saimoe Diet Seat

ISML 2020: Elaina Wins Speaker Of The Saimoe Diet Seat

By Jo-Ryan Salazar

The Bedlam On Baltic Avenue

February 3, 2021

In a spread-busting Upset of the Round, Elaina, the Wandering Witch, is your 2021 Speaker of the Saimoe Diet after defeating Kei Shirogane 6656-5390 in the 2020 International Saimoe League Seasonal Final. The result deals a crippling blow to the Kaguya Party's vain aspirations of being the party in power at next year's Saimoe Diet. However, Elaina's progressive agenda has resonated well with voters and will also make her a strong contender at next year's International Saimoe League. Elaina succeeds Kaguya Shinomiya as Speaker.

Yukino Yukinoshita defeated Asuna Yuuki 6601-5482 to advance, while Mai Sakurajima delivered a 5914-5768 statement win over Mashiro Shiina that could give the Bunny Girl a free pass to the General Election for Saimoe Prime Minister and the Heavenly Tiara, though Yukino's dark horse mystique holds sway. Miyuki Shirogane is hoping to join Kaguya Shinomiya at the top of the line after belting Kazuma Satou 7205-4087 and faces a straightforward assignment in Yuu Ishigami, who delivered a 6602-4937 stonewalling of Riku Dola.

Tsukasa Yuzaki finished second in the Fall Seasonal defeating Rize Tedeza 5603-3470. Saya was third with 2466 votes and Sakura Adachi was fourth with 1642 votes. Saya has been enlisted as Elaina's personal assistant, in which she will document all actions done as Speaker of the Saimoe Diet and be a personal liaison to important people on her travels.

In Tiara Consolation action, Rikka Takanashi won the closest race of the round, a 5733-5691 thriller over Iroha Isshiki, Chika Fujiwara crushed Shiro 6114-5270, Misaki Shokuhou defeated Kuroko Shirai 5354-5063, Emilia raced past Yui Yuigahama 6015-5403, Kurumi Tokisaki shot down Kaede Azusagawa 6164-4849, Megumin exploded past Chino Kafuu 5636-5309, Nao Tomori thumped Ruiko Saten 6144-4968 and Utaha Kasumigaoka won a 5416-5377 barnburner over Mio Akiyama.

In Scepter Consolation action, Ryuuji Takasu roared past Kiritsugu Emiya 5161-4538, Taki Tachibana took down Yuuta Togashi 5217-5134, Tanjiro Kamado won the closest race of the round, a 4890-4854 snoozer over Saitama, Levi leveled Kiyotaka Ayanokouji 5658-4671, Saika Totsuka rolled past Lelouch Lamperouge 5618-4676, Tomoya Okazaki defeated Shirou Emiya 4856-4486, Sorata Kanda impaled Gilgamesh 5556-4587 and Archer prevailed over Yuzuru Otonashi 5091-4936.

In exhibition action, Ayumu Uehara routed Tiara 4554-2923, Setsuna Yuuki defeated Misha Necron 4381-3924, Ryouko Kuriba rolled past Nana Hiiragi 5049-3777 and Misha's sister Sasha dusted off Rika Furude 4575-3945.

Making the cut in one group match were Suzune Horikita (46638.9), Kuroyukihime (40169.3) and Chitoge Kirisaki (41416.8). In another group match, Saten (5438) and Nanami Aoyama (5496) made the cut, which made up for Ruiko's setback against Tomori.

Match Day 7 of the 2020 International Saimoe League is scheduled for February 4, 2021 and will be a prelude to the general election on Match Day 8 to close out another rock-solid year of Saimoe. Vote for your favorite characters at InternationalSaimoe.com and join the ongoing debate.

ISML 2020: An Election Before The Election

ISML 2020: An Election Before The Election

By Jo-Ryan Salazar

The Bedlam On Baltic Avenue

January 30, 2021

One of the big semifinals that awaits in the Female Division bracket of the 2020 International Saimoe League Eliminations is what is very much an election before the General Election to close out the tournament. Kaguya Shinomiya routed Ai Hayasaka 6177-4669 to advance to the semis but will face her strongest opponent on record: Mikoto Misaka, who thumped Rin Tohsaka 7344-4366 and is looking to make history by being reelected and become the first two-time Saimoe Prime Minister.

Touma Kamijou is hoping to join Misaka in winning the Deputy Saimor Prime Minister's office after eliminating Subaru Natsuki 6332-4407 but will get a stern challenge from Sakuta Azusagawa, who eased past Rintarou Okabe 5901-4118. Both Shinomiya and Misaka highlighted two items on their agenda: getting all of Japan vaccinated from COVID-19 and getting the Tokyo 2020 Olympics off the ground. In particular, Misaka made it clear in her virtual rallies that it can only be experience and a leader with a track record of results that can guide the nation, the world and Saimoe forward. Shinomiya, meanwhile, is counting on her and Miyuki Shirogane to move Japan forward on an air of quiet, assertive confidence while building on the story that outgoing Saimoe Prime Minister Violet Evergarden wrote. She intended to write a "glorious new chapter, to share the power of love to keep hope alive," as she said in a virtual town hall meeting earlier in January with Chika Fujiwara and Miko Iino moderating.

Elaina, as Fall Diadem winner, will be taking on Kei Shirogane, Miyuki's sister, for the Speaker of the Saimoe Diet seat after defeating Tsukasa Yuzaki 5897-5045. Shirogane is slated to win by at least 200 votes and over 11,000 votes cast. But don't sell the Wandering Witch short. Elaina has vowed to provide a progressive agenda to the Saimoe movement, with an aim towards the promotion of women's rights and minority solidarity. As with others, she too believes that vaccination, good hygiene and safety remain a priority for the constituents she will serve if elected. In addition, Elaina feels that the Kaguya Party might be looking at a monopoly in power in the next government, and is banking on voters to look to her to provide balance and "foster good government with resolute diversity" as Speaker.

Rize Tedeza was third in the Fall Seasonal race with a 4989-3717 win over Hougetsu Shimamura. Also, Saya whipped Aurora Suya Rhys Kaymin 5211-3787 and Sakura Adachi got past Sharo Kirima 4373-3869.

Palmeiras: 2020-21 Copa Libertadores Champions

A goal eight minutes into stoppage time won Palmeiras the Copa Libertadores on Saturday as a Breno Lopes header earned the Sao Paulo club a 1-0 win over Santos.

The final of South America's equivalent of Europe's Champions League was played on a roasting hot afternoon in Rio de Janeiro and chances were few and far between.

Just as a lacklustre match looked sure to go to extra-time, however, substitute Lopes timed his jump perfectly at the back post to loop a header into the net.

His goal, moments after Santos coach Cuca was sent off for a fracas on the touchline, provoked wild celebrations from Palmeiras fans who had gathered to watch the game in Sao Paulo, ignoring socially distancing rules.

With the temperature in Rio de Janeiro topping 100 degrees Fahrenheit, neither side was able to make an early impact in the final of the continent's major tournament.

Although the game opened up slightly towards the end of the second half, it failed to live up to expectations of TV viewers in 191 countries or the 5,000 specially invited guests who watched the match live at the Maracana.

Victory, however, continued a superb season for Palmeiras and their recently appointed 42-year old coach Abel Ferreira.

The club won the Paulista state championship in August and they play Gremio in the Copa do Brasil final in February.

This was Palmeiras' second Libertadores title -- and their first since 1999 -- and the third time in four years that a Brazilian team have won South America's biggest club competition.

The final was originally scheduled to be held in November but the tournament was halted for six months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

First we run, and then we laugh 'til we cry

But when the night is falling

You cannot find the light (light)

You feel your dreams are dying

Hold tight

You've got the music in you

Don't let go

You've got the music in you

One dance left

This world is gonna pull through

Don't give up

You've got a reason to live

Can't forget

We only get what we give

I'm comin' home, baby

You're tops

Give it to me now

4 AM, we ran a miracle mile

We're flat broke

But hey, we do it in style

The bad rich

God's flying in for your trial

But when the night is falling

You cannot find a friend (friend)

You feel your tree is breaking

Just then

You've got the music in you

Don't let go

You've got the music in you

One dance left

This world is gonna pull through

Don't give up

You've got a reason to live

Can't forget

We only get what we give

This whole damn world could fall apart

You'll be okay, follow your heart

You're in harms way, I'm right behind

Now say you're mine

You've got the music in you

Don't let go

You've got the music in you

One dance left

This world is gonna pull through

Don't give up

You've got a reason to live

Can't forget

We only get what we give

Don't let go

I feel the music in you

Don't let go

Fly high, high

What's real can't die

You only get what you give

You're gonna get what you give

Don't give up

Just don't be afraid to leave

Health insurance, rip off lying

FDA, big bankers buying

Fake computer crashes dining

Cloning while they're multiplying

Fashion shoots with Beck and Hanson

Courtney Love and Marilyn Manson

You're all fakes

Run to your mansions

Come around, we'll kick your asses

Don't let go

One dance left

Don't give up

Can't forget

Don't let go...
