ISML 2009: Rika, Saber, Fate roll, Haruhi stays unbeaten
June 9, 2009
Four match days in the 2009 International Saimoe League Sapphire stages concluded, and Rika Furude, Saber, and Fate Testarossa Harlaown picked up crucial victories. Haruhi Suzumiya, meanwhile, kept her unbeaten streak alive against a cupcake in Kallen Kozuki (Stadtfeld) in Algiers.
A battle of the Furude sisters pitting Rika against sibling Hanyuu saw the Drunken Master score a tenacious 1576-1009 victory in Bangkok. Her victory puts her at the top of the Sapphire table, with eleven others in the hunt.
Harlaown, the defending ISML Champion, prevailed over Taiga Aisaka 1796-1371 Santiago. Saber, whose real name is Arthuria Pendragon, slashed past Nagisa Furukawa 1695-1230 in Toronto.
Suzumiya had no problem against Kozuki in a 2146-802 rout in the Algerian capital. Her record of 31-0 ensures that she will be on pace to clinch an ISML Tiara spot first.
Once again, the Rozen Maiden Alice Doll power trio ensured that they will be sticking around for another edition. Suigintou's push towards a second straight necklace continued with a 2055-998 dusting of Sayuri Kurata in Istanbul. Shinku had no problems against Misuzu Kamio 1948-1146 in Bogota and Suiseiseki pulled off an impressive 1870-1537 win over Mikuru Asahina in Dhaka.
The Lucky Star girls also had a perfect day. Konata Izumi defeated Louise Francoise Le Blanc De La Valliere in Tehran 1677-1180, Tsukasa Hiiragi blasted Evangeline A.K. McDowell 1738-1150 in Mexico City and Kagami Hiiragi completed the sweep with a 2072-749 plastering of hapless Aya Shameimaru 2072-749 in Lagos.
Yet another group of girls getting the benefits of a perfect day were the Fate/Stay Night representatives. Illyasviel von Einzbern rolled past Marisa Kirisame 1540-976 in Cairo while Rin Tosaka torched Nayuki Minase 1876-1189 in Mumbai.
In other action...Sakura Kinomoto stomped Kirino Chiba 1633-957 in Tokyo, Sao Paulo saw Yuki Nagato make turkey stuffing out of Remilia Scarlet 1902-846, New York City witnessed Kotomi Ichinose sound out Ayu Tsukimiya 1712-1057, Holo chomped up Fuko Ibuki and her star-shaped cakes 1718-1397 in Shanghai (to go with some burping), and Nagi Sanzen'in chalked up a 1521-+1256 victory over Konjiki no Yami (Golden Darkness) in a Los Angeles Battle of the Blondes.
Shana blitched past Patchouli Knowledge handily 2256-722 in buenos Aires, Maria outpaced C.C. 1628-1244 in Seoul, Karachi saw Tomoyo Sakagami roundhouse Minori Kushieda 1937-1012, a geniunely classic Thrilla in Manila saw Anya Earlstreim get the best of Shiki Ryogi 1221-1218, and Nanoha Takamachi busted Akari Mizunashi 1783-787 in Jakarta.
Hinagiku Katsura had no problems against Makoto Sawatari in a 1925-839 beatdown in Paris, Moscow saw Hayate Yagami thump Chii 1583-1049, Yuuhi Katagiri scored a 1257-1236 nailbiter in Moscow, Lima saw Nagi crush whipping girl Ayumu "Osaka" Kasuga 1465-795, Kinshasa saw Mei Sunohara take down Index L. Prohibitorum 1612-1049 and Kyou Fujibayashi routed Ami HInamori 1802-849 in Milan.
Wrapping up the day's action, Shiori Misaka got past Tamaki Kawazoe 1376-1013 in Sydney, Santo Domingo saw Mikoto Misaka prevail over Alice Carroll 1352-997 and Ami KAwashima chalked up a 1557-1099 victory over reimu Hakurei in Katowice, capping yet another miserable outing for the virtually overrated, overwhelmingly overmatched representatives from Touhou Project.
