ISML 2010: Yui stuns Kyou, Tomoyo rolls past Kagami

One of the early shockers in the 2010 International Saimoe League Tiara phase came in the Losers' Bracket. Yui Hirasawa, the guitar swingwoman and sweets-loving ace from Sakuragaoka Girls' High's very own Hokago Tea Time, defeated Kyou Fujibayashi 3081-2952.

For the first time, North Korea's voting contingent could take part in the proceedings, and they applauded Hirasawa's style of getting the job done. Fujibayashi earned victories in Africa (80%, the highest), Canada, the USA, Eastern and Western Europe, Russia, China, South Korea, Oceania and Japan (with 71.2% of the vote). But major victories in Thailand (68%) and the Philippines (74%, the strongest region for Hirasawa), as well as victories in Latin America, West Asia, Taiwan and Indonesia were enough to put Hirasawa over the top.

Saber kept her Tiara run alive with a 3107-2893 victory over Hitagi Senjougahara. China and the Philippines voted 60% in favor of Saber, while Africa voted 60% in favor of Senjougahara.

Nagi Sanzen'in drubbed Nadeko Sengoku 3335-2676. The Philippines was Sanzen'in's strongest region, with 67.6% of the vote. Sanzen'in also secured massive victories in West Asia (67%), Thailand (61.6%) and China (61.4%). RUssia was Sengoku's strongest region, with 65.2% of the vote.

Tomoyo Sakagami cruised past Kagami Hiiragi 3353-2659 to keep the dream alive. All the voters in Africa voted in favor of Sakagami, the first time that a region voted unanimously in favor of a single candidate. Sakagami also garnered victories in North America, West Asia (67.8%), Thailand, China, Indonesia, Oceania, Hong Kong (60.2%), Taiwan and South Korea (65%). Hiiragi's strongest region was Russia, with 60.6% of the vote.

In a battle of Full Metal Panic rivals, Kaname Chidori defeated Teletha Testarossa 2826-2185. Africa was Chidori's strongest regions with 66.7% of the vote. Chidori won every region except for Russia and Japan, the latter voting 60.5% in favor of Testarossa.

A clash of the Yamadas saw Aoi Yamada take down Yamada of B Gata H Kei 3854-1732. Aoi won every region, with Thailand being her strongest, taking 74.9% of the vote.

Another one-sided battle saw Nemuru Kushinada trounce Nayu Hayama 4365-912. Africa was Kushinada's strongest region, with a perfect 100% of the votes going to the Okami Kakushi representative. Kushinada also earned one-sided routed in Chiba, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Oceania.

Noumi Kudryavka of Little Busters duested off Tono Minagi 2928-2684. Kudryavka's strongest region was Thailand, with 68.9% of the vote. Africa got 100% of the vote for Minagi, but it wasn't enough.

Ayumu Nishizawa's curtain call saw her prevail over Izumi Segawa, 3121-2428. Nishizawa won ever region but Oceania (which was split 50-50), Thailand (who voted 58% in favor of Segawa) and South Korea (who voted 60.2% in favor of Segawa). Her strongest contingent of votes came from Eastern Europe, with 72.7% of the votes.

Wrapping up Tiara Match Day 3, Rena Ryuuguu edged Suiseiseki in a 2882-2861 thriller. Africa was Suiseiseki's strongest region, with 75% of the votes, but victories in Western Europe, Eastern Europe (Ryuuguu's strongest region with 62% of the votes), West Asia, the Americas, Indonesia, Thailand, North Korea and Hong Kong gave Ryuuguu the victory.
