Golden State Warriors: 2017 NBA Champions

OAKLAND, Calif. -- If the Golden State Warriors couldn't achieve perfection, they'll just have to settle for redemption and justification. After missing their shot at a 16-0 playoff record, they returned to Oracle Arena and finally secured the clinching victory they couldn't pull off after winning three games against the Cleveland Cavaliers in last year's NBA Finals.

This fall, Kevin Durant will have the answer to all the criticism he endured since last summer, when he announced his decision to join the Warriors as a free agent. He'll get a championship ring after he scored 39 points -- 11 of them in the fourth quarter, in the Warriors' 129-120 victory over the Cavaliers.

The Warriors are NBA champions for the second time in three seasons. We have you covered with the latest news and analysis from Oakland. Finals »

Stephen Curry had the answer to his disappointing 2016 Finals with 34 points himself.

As if to answer all of the legends who don't like watching them shoot all those 3-pointers and hate the idea of superstars teaming up, Durant and Curry began the game by going to the hoop, old school.

Durant had two driving layups in the first quarter and Curry had a couple himself. In the fourth quarter, with the Cavaliers still lingering after all of the swings the Warriors took at them, Curry and Durant resumed going to the hoop to get a 12-point lead that they protected until the end this time.

And Draymond Green, who missed the pivotal Game 5 last year after being suspended for an accumulation of flagrant fouls, had 10 points, 12 rebounds and five assists.

The Warriors returned to their most Warrior-like ways in the second quarter, outscoring Cleveland 38-23, with 21 of the points coming from Curry and Durant.

Green was back to making a variety of contributions, from helping out on defense to making smart passes (he had six assists in his first 23 minutes). He also kept his cool even as tempers flared in the second quarter. When David West and Tristan Thompson squared off, with J.R. Smith entering the mix, Green peeled off Smith -- and nothing came of that potentially volatile pairing. LeBron James and other Cavaliers kept talking to Green throughout the quarter and he responded by smiling each time. Green even saved Klay Thompson from a potentially calamitous fall by alertly grabbing him after Thompson had been upended in midair.

It took a while, but the Warriors finally got the usual home benefit for the bench players, in addition to the unique boost from the Oracle Arena crowd when things are going the Warriors' way. Andre Iguodala and David West posted a combined 12 points in the second quarter, giving the Warriors some traction between 3-pointers by Durant.

Coach Steve Kerr finally got to play an extended stretch with the "Hamptons Five" lineup of Curry, Durant, Green, Iguodala and Klay Thompson. Foul trouble for Green and fear of allowing Tristan Thompson to control all the rebounds had limited the group to only 17 minutes together in the first four games. The group that gathered together in New York last summer to formulate the superteam played the last three minutes of the first half together, and a 36-11 run took the Warriors lead as high as 17 points and the noise in the packed building reached eardrum-rattling levels.

But a couple of long 3-pointers by Smith in the final minute pulled the Cavaliers within 11 points at halftime. The Cavaliers would not go away.

BoBA Releases New Identifications!

When the Bedlam on Baltic Avenue first began its service back on June 11, 2005, its focus was on Arina Tanemura-related materials and writings. Since then, this blog has been known for covering the International Saimoe League, other anime character competitions, providing sports results and sport/anime collaborations, as well as providing other related stuff worthy of discussions such as games like Pangya. This blog of mine has been an extension of me for over a decade, and it has grown as I have grown.

Now, it takes the next bold step with a rebrand, an indicator of how far it has grown over the past 12 years, a new identification.

The Gill Sans Ultra Bold font has been retired from use once and for all. Neutraface, more specifically, Neutra Display Tilting, is the official font for the Bedlam on Baltic Avenue, with secondary fonts being Arquitecta and Lato. The iconic BoBA abbreviation is now embedded into a bigger B to go with the founding year of 2005. The large B is a tribute to the late DeviantART of Bongaboi which is now succeeded by the tumblr account of the same name and the identity of myself as a player on Pangya with the same name.

The official colors of this blog are Solid Pink, (#893843), Cherry Blossom Pink (#FFB7C5), Lust (#E62020) and Baby Powder (#FEFEFA). The desktop icon for this blog will also be changed to accomodate the rebrand.

A long and arduous process was made to finally establish a mascot for Year 13 of the Bedlam on Baltic Avenue. I settled on using a shipgirl as my main mascot and went with the remodeled version of Akatsuki. Ha Akabouzu's depictions of the lady of the Combined Fleet depicts the exact mindset.

For a girl whose human age when remodeled is exactly that of the Bedlam on Baltic Avenue at 12, this is remarkably mature and assertive and is not like that of her childish personality that is not the true Akatsuki I am familiar with. Renewed, with a purpose, the bringer of a new morning, a new start to a blog that is an outlet for my opinions to things that matter to me and to life and society. On these grounds, Akatsuki will be my main mascot, the face of the blog and the Tumblr satellite blog, who retires my previous mascot, Madoka Kaname, who has been in service for about six years.

A secondary mascot is also in place to round out the rebrand of this blog. Aoba Suzukaze is now my secondary mascot and will be used to promote any events on my Twitch channel and my social media presence. She will combine forces with Homura Akemi, my primary Twitch mascot, to promote any gaming events happening on my channel. The Twitch Channel is also receiving a rebrand. My Twitch Channel, HomuHomu2093 will have its own logo. Colors are Pomp and Power (#86608E), Eminence (#6C3082), Palatinate (#682860) and White (#FEFEFA).

Finally, in a nod to my support for Paris Saint-Germain, "Go West" by the Village People will be the official opening theme for all of my streams on Twitch outside of any streams I host, replacing the Warner Brothers intro music that had been my starting tune.

I thank you for your support and I hope you look forward to my work online. Here on my profile, "There's Always Something Going On Around Here," and "I Am The Gift That Keeps On Giving." Onward!

Pittsburgh Penguins: 2017 Stanley Cup Champions

NASHVILLE -- The Pittsburgh Penguins clinched back-to-back Stanley Cup championships with a 2-0 win against the Nashville Predators in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final at Bridgestone Arena on Sunday.

Pittsburgh is the first team to repeat since the Detroit Red Wings in 1997 and 1998. It is the fifth Stanley Cup title for the Penguins, and they have clinched every championship series on the road.

Patric Hornqvist scored with 1:35 remaining in the third period to give the Penguins a 1-0 lead. Justin Schultz took the original shot from the point, and Hornqvist banked the puck off of the back of Pekka Rinne for his fifth goal.

Carl Hagelin scored an empty-net goal with 13.6 seconds remaining to give the Penguins a 2-0 lead.

Penguins goaltender Matt Murray made 27 saves for his second consecutive shutout.

Colton Sissons appeared to give the Predators a 1-0 lead at 1:07 of the second period, but the goal was disallowed because a whistle was blown. The Predators had a 5-on-3 power play for 32 seconds in the third period but were unable to score.

Ryan Ellis played on a defense pair with Roman Josi. He left Game 5 because of an undisclosed injury and did not participate in the optional morning skate Sunday.

Penguins forward Nick Bonino missed his fourth consecutive game because of a lower-body injury.

ISML 2017: Homura With A Huge Upset Of Mizuki, Subaru Stunned

ISML 2017: Homura With A Huge Upset Of Mizuki, Subaru Stunned

By Jo-Ryan Salazar

Mizuki Usami is one of the few new faces that, alongside Chitose Karasuma, has no business whatsoever being at the International Saimoe League. In one of the biggest upsets of the season, Homura Akemi delivered an 837-705 scalp has people wondering, is KonoBiju overrated? The answer: yes, it is, along Girlish Number, as both series' characters have underperformed at this tournament despite the hype in the seasonals last year. The result also reminds the voters that the Madoka Magica Party is still going strong after six years of being a force in saimoe.

Match Day 7 of the 2017 International Saimoe League is in the books. In the Female Division, Yoshino rolled past Tsubasa Hanekawa 1065-594, Rikka Takanashi defeated Kaori Miyazono 965-707, C.C. eased past Sakura Kinomoto 890-655, Kosaki Onodera cruised past Sakura Matou 973-658, Jibril flew past Nagisa Furukawa 1021-640, Utaha Kasumigaoka stopped Aoba Suzukaze run with a 910-679 statement victory and Hifumi Takimoto defeated Yuno Gasai 887-654.

Mashiro Shiina routed Misaki Shokuhou 1182-525, Nanami Aoyama rocked Azusa Nakano 904-780, Isuzu Sento drove past Miuna Shiodome 916-539, Emilia thumped Kyouko Kirigiri 1082-630, Ram rammed Yuki Nagato 943-794, Nico Yazawa torched Kotori Kanbe 921-582 and Megumin routed Yuuki Konno 1091-638.

In the Male Division, Umetarou Nozaki whipped past Soushi Miketsukami 789-461, Felix Argyle cruised past Youji Itami 931-512, Koyomi Araragi leveled Kousei Arima 871-558, Taihei Doma took down Ayato Amagiri 785-510, Yato stonewalled Kojou Akatsuki 885-457, Ryuuji Takasu roared past L Lawliet 855-634, Sadao Mao won the closest race of the round, a 756-736 thriller over Lancer and while Subaru Uchimaki did defeated Tobio Kageyama 731-424, it is more than offset by Mizuki's laughable performance against Homura, which makes Subaru's effort pyrrhic and wasted as a result.

Hachiman Hikigaya routed Ainz Ooal Gown 1086-435, Izayoi Sakamaki defeated Genos 874-646, Yuuji Kazami annihilated Yuri Plisetsky 809-271, Korosensei dominated 1030-492, Gilgamesh impaled Saika Totsuka 856-684, Arata Kaizaki crushed Ginko 721-375 and Yuzuru Otonashi shot down Satoru Fujinuma 1062-389.

In Winter Seasonal action, Satanichia McDowell Kurumizawa routed Akane Minagawa 1088-457 and Yunyun thumped Hikari Tanakashi 947-589. When asked of Mizuki's horrendous performance, Subaru spoke out.

"There are 837 people in the world who sicken me right now, being the lapdogs of a disgustingly creepy and underdressed gothic lesbian loli with ugly wings, a gaudy oversized ribbon, the mind of a slut and the chest of an airport," said Subaru in very strong rhetoric at a press conference in Tokyo. "It's 2017. Homura is supposed to be old news, and these sick lapdogs refuse to go with the times. It's horrible stuff, really. But to be fair, we could be worse, like Yuri on Ice, who characters are a complete insult to this competition and deserve to be eliminated, every single one of them. And don't get me started on the Karasuma twins. If the voters don't like them, they don't deserve to be here kappa."

Match Day 8 of the 2017 International Saimoe League Topaz Period is scheduled for June 12, 2017. Vote for your characters at InternationalSaimoe.com and join the ongoing debate.

Real Madrid: 2016-17 UEFA Champions League Winners

Real Madrid became the first team to retain the UEFA Champions League, and Cristiano Ronaldo the first player to score in three finals, as a clinical display proved too much for Juventus in Cardiff and secured their 12th European crown.

No side had won successive European Cups since AC Milan in 1989 and 1990, and Madrid were set on their way by Ronaldo's deflected opener midway through the first half – their 500th goal in the competition. Mario Mandžukić swiftly brought Juve level with a stunning finish, but Madrid looked stronger thereafter and two goals in four minutes, from Casemiro and Ronaldo, and a late fourth by substitute Marco Asensio, clinched their third crown in four years.

Juventus might have lost their four previous UEFA Champions League finals – including 2015 – but they started full of confidence, Gonzalo Higuaín forcing Keylor Navas into action twice in the first five minutes before Miralem Pjanić's stinging low shot was superbly pushed away by the goalkeeper.

Madrid, however, are masters of the clinical counterattack, and proved that again in the 20th minute. In a superb rapid break, Ronaldo played in Dani Carvajal down the right and found the space to sweep the ensuing low cross beyond Gianluigi Buffon and inside the far post with the help of a deflection off Leonardo Bonucci.

Juve came back strongly, though, and within seven minutes they were level. Gonzalo Higuaín flicked back to Mandžukić 15 metres out and, with his back to goal and defenders closing in, the Croatian improvised superbly to beat Navas with an acrobatic overhead kick.

With no let-up, Ronaldo miscued a header from Isco's inviting cross as Madrid ended the first half on top and they carried that into the second period. A goal appeared to be in the offing and it duly arrived a minute past the hour, Casemiro's first-time shot from 30 metres spinning in via a touch off Sami Khedira.

Three minutes later, the game was as good as settled. Luka Modrić was quickly in to win possession down the right, swap passes with Carvajal and deliver a fine cross to the near post where, inevitably, Ronaldo was waiting to divert beyond Buffon.

Juve never looked like mounting a second comeback and finished with ten men after substitute Juan Cuadrado tangled with Sergio Ramos to become the third player to be sent off in a European Cup final. Madrid crowned their evening in the closing seconds as Marcelo crossed for Asensio to slot in and complete a devastating second-half display.

Key player: Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid)

Another remarkable evening for the Portuguese star. Two typically assured finishes gave him his fourth UEFA Champions League final victory, made him the first player to score in three finals (all won), and made it 600 career goals for club and country. Oh, and he finished as the UEFA Champions League's top scorer for the fifth year in a row with 12 goals, ten of which have come from the quarter-finals onwards.

Reporters' views

Joe Walker, Real Madrid (@UEFAcomJoeW)
History makers! There is something about the UEFA Champions League that brings out the best in Real Madrid and an irresistible 15-minute spell just after half-time did for Juventus. Whatever Zidane said to his charges at the interval worked and they dominated the second period after a very even first half. They are the first team to defend the competition in its current format and will already have eyes on making it a hat-trick in Kyiv next May.

Paolo Menicucci, Juventus (@UEFAcomPaoloM)
Once again Juventus fell at the last hurdle in their attempt to win the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 1996. The Bianconeri have now lost five consecutive finals, seven out of nine in total. Two years ago a spectacular Barcelona attack ended their dream, this time they found Cristiano Ronaldo between themselves and the cup. Luck was not on their side as Madrid's first two goals came from deflected shots but Juve almost vanished in the second half, seemingly running out of gas in their most important game of the season when a historic treble appeared a concrete possibility.
