Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel...

This is the 2700th post on the Bedlam. So then, today is the premier of that movie, the Rebellion Story, where Homura Akemi changes the rules, emancipates Madoka and sends everyone back home with nothing of value lost. We can only hope that the 2013 Saimoe Champion does not have any ill feelings towards Homura because she had her reasons and now Madoka can go out there and become the best Japanese citizen she could be. Her country needs her, of course.

She, however, is still a goddess, and, well, even darlings like Madoka deserve their wings for all they've been though and for all we know. (Apologies to Parov Stelar.) So after some disappointment of not getting that blased Ultimate Madoka set in Pangya, I had to go on a mission and give Madoka (a.k.a. Hana in a Madoka skin) a different pair of wings, namely, the Angel Wings. They only improve Accuracy by one notch, but they look pretty good and it's 200,000 pang.

Getting the 200K was not easy. An angel always earns her wings, and I had to do a lot to get this. I started out with 6,000 pang and after I heard of the Black Friday promotion for PMMM, the good thing was that I had the cash on hand from my last paycheck that was not used. So, I used the 105 dolllars and some money from my sister for a project I did for her to buy three sets of character skins: Madoka (Hana), Homura (Lucia) and Mami (Arin). I had to buy some dyes as well. I ended up getting the Madoka Magica Club Set, but I didn't really need it. However, I ended up with a glut of comets and a bigger glut of Keys of Fortune.

At this point, I hit the 100,000 Pang mark. I was halfway there. So I had to divide the workload. Madoka did the pang harvesting on Wiz City Hoel 6 and Homura disposed of the Keys of Fortune by grabbing Spinning Cubes from Pink Wind Hole 6. Those are my two holes that I like to hit up. I only go to Pink Wind Hole 6 if I have a lot of Keys to get rid of. I also bought some key chains, too. As a a result of all those spinning cubes, I moved up to Amateur B level.

Here's the thing: I had started playing Pangya on Canada Day of this year. Before the Black Friday promotion, I had spent several weeks not playing the game. This promotion gave me a great opportunity to get back to playing. This was the first major purchase for me since the Gacha swimwear heist in September.

As I was saying, I had exhausted my keys, but I was only at 182,000 pang. It was all up to Madoka. She had to do it. She had to get it done. So, using the juiced-up Papel Training Clubs and a barrage of Water Comets combined with Fairy Tears (I had bought a ocean of them from Tiki after trading some stuff that I didn't even use), I spent 10 rounds playing Wiz City Hole 6 on Hole Repeat.

I thought I had done it, but wait. I had only reached 198,000 pang! Oh jeez! So I played one more round of Wiz City Hole 6 and Madoka got a couple of hole-in-ones to go with a glut of Pang coins. One pang coin equals 10 pang. I needed those things. That hole, to me, is my favorite because my pang harvesting operatives depend of it. I kid you not.

After breezing through that round in which Madoka hit a -20, I finally made the purchase. Madoka Kaname, at 4:50 a.m. PT/7:50 a.m. ET, finally got her wings. And now, she truly has the look of a winner. Well-earned and well-played. Now I am left with just 935 pang and zero cookie points. This took a lot out of me, but I finally got it done.

Thank Based Madokami my dad was unable to do the Black Friday run. My cash on hand got redirected to buying a ton of stuff on Pangya, and, well, you know how that ended up. Did you know that Lady Madoka, or Maddie as I like to call her (as in Madeleine. Great, now I've made her one with the socialites of Britain, oh noes!), is a consistent golfer? Yeah, I found that out today. Pretty good. Makes a lot of birdies. Really consistent.

West Coast Eagles recruits Sheed and Karpany eager to get up to speed

New West Coast recruit Dom Sheed says he is one of the lucky ones who was picked up by the team he barracked for at the AFL's National Draft.

His new teammate Malcolm Karpany supported Port Adelaide until a week ago when the Eagles added him to their list.

The pair were introduced to their new teammates this morning.

Sheed, 18, won the Larke Medal as the best player of the under-18 championship playing for WA. The left-footer from Subiaco was snapped up by the Eagles with their first pick of the Draft, number 11 overall.

At one stage he was being touted as a possible top 10 pick, but a foot injury may have caused his slip down the pecking order.

Neither he, nor the Eagles, who gave up their number six pick to snare Brisbane's Elliot Yeo, are complaining.

Coach Adam Simpson will be hoping he can slot in to the midfield. Although Sheed admits that he isn't the quickest player going around, he has no doubts he can eventually get to the top level and is surrounding himself with the right people to allow that to happen.

"I was lucky enough to go out for dinner with him [Simpson] on Draft night because he was over there," Sheed said.

"I had a bit of a chat with him, he said I would probably start with the midfield group and go from there.

"Look, I'm obviously not the quickest bloke, but I like to make up for it in other areas.

"Everyone has to work on something and I have my things to work on as well - obviously my speed and I have to work on my endurance as well.

"Yeah, I kind of just want to follow Matt Priddis and a few of those blokes around and do what they do and put my best foot forward."

Karpany is also a left-footer and was taken and was taken from Woodville-West Torrens in the SANFL with the Eagles second pick, number 31 overall.

He's another midfielder, who doesn't mind going into attack either. His 29 touches, nine marks, two goals and seven inside-50s in the SANFL under-18s Grand Final winning team earned him the Alan Stewart Medal as the best player on the ground.

If he gets anywhere near the heights of the player he admired as a kid, the Eagles may have got a Draft gem.

"Wanganeen, Gav, he was a good player and a role model," Karpany was quick to reply when asked about who inspired him.

He sees himself hopefully playing a similar type of role for the Eagles as Wanganeen did, particularly while at Port.

"Small forward, on the wing, [where there is] a lot of space to run," he said. "Hopefully I can fill that spot – there were a lot of retirees this season – we'll see what happens.

"Obviously it's gonna be a lot harder with Western Australia so far away from South Australia. But it's a good step to learn to be more independent, I guess."

The Eagles left for Broome on Monday for a four-day training camp.

Fremantle Dockers snare Subiaco's Michael Wood in rookie draft

FREMANTLE has turned to emerging Subiaco forward Michael Wood to head the Dockers' rookie selections in the final recruitment of young talent for this year.

And the Dockers stayed with local talent for their second choice with another developing forward - Thomas Vandeleur from South Fremantle at number 32 overall.

Vandeleur is a 194cm and athletic key defender who could be earmarked as a long-term potential backline replacement for the inevitable retirement of champion Luke McPharlin somewhere into the next few seasons.

Another South Fremantle product and mid-sized forward Blaine Johnson was taken by Carlton at pick 43, while nippy Swan Districts on-baller and goal-shark Charlie Cameron is heading to Adelaide.

The livewire Cameron was WA's first rookie selection conducted early this morning at pick No.7.

He had been linked with a move to Greater Western Sydney but late on Tuesday the exciting on-baller was told by Giants management that he was not in their plans.

Wood, 18, was taken with the Dockers' first pick at number 16 overall after the rangy tall sharp-shooter had trained with Essendon since the weekend ahead of the draft.

He played 10 senior games with Subiaco in the 2013 WAFL season and booted 18 goals with an impressive burst of speed and uncanny ability to sense opportunity to score from packs and on the turn in heavy traffic.

And while Fremantle took two new WA products and another eastern stater with their third pick at 47 with Northern Blues Jacob Ballard, arch rival West Coast pulled a surprise by taking Oakleigh Chargers' Will Maginness at number six.

Maginness, 18, is a nippy midfielder with handy goal-scoring capability and is damaging with his disposal.

He was co-captain with his Victorian-based under-18s team.

As has been widely documented, West Coast threw a lifeline to troubled small forward Murray Newman with a recall through the rookie system after he was dropped from the Eagles senior list last week.

The Eagles also took scrawny Claremont defender Rohan Powell with their second pick at 22 overall.

Surprise omissions from Wednesday's final AFL list additions ahead of the 2014 premiership season include highly promising Claremont ruckman Darcy Cameron and clever East Fremantle opportunist forward Ryan Lester-Smith.
