ISML 2010: Shana takes overall top spot in ISML standings

After a long hold on the overall top spot, Shana rose up to first with a 3035-1361 victory over Fuuko Ibuki. While Akiyama won by a larger margin in her 3050-1316 rout of Rika Furude, a superior difference in the numbers gave the Flame Haze control of the overall standings as well as the Diamond necklace.

Still Akiyama was not concerned about the records.

"I still believe that the match between me and Hinagiku will determine who get the overall spot," Akiyama said after her victory. "I already defeated Shana before, so I personally would cry foul a bit if I finish the ISML Diamond unbeaten and still finish second to Shana only due to voters and my loss to Taiga Aisaka.

"I am confident that if I were to face Aisaka again, I won't make the same mistake twice."

Shana wasn't concerned about the numbers either.

"That's what they basically are-numbers," she said while munching on her 200th loaf of melon bread. "I never pay attention to them. The media like to spin this up because that's what they're paid to do. I will say for the record that I owe that big-chested [expletive] Mio one."

Sure enough, Katsura didn't have any problems dusposing Minori Kushieda 2926-1299. Neither did other aspiring Diamond contenders like Saber, with her 2739-1367 demolition of Ami Kawashima, Azusa Nakano with her 3155-1073 destruction of Chiaki Minami, Aisaka herself with her 2772-1579 slashing of Mikuru Asahina, Mikoto Misaka with her 2811-1437 blowout win against Isumi Saginomiya or the always-fearsome Kyou Fujibayashi who routed Chizuru Akaba 2422-1672.

In the special contest, Laputa's Sheeta defeated Kiki from Kiki's Delivery Service in a battle of Studio Ghibli rivals 1405-1201.

K-ON! picked up a sweep through the Hirasawa sisters. Yui rocked Ryou Fujibayashi 2914-1386 and Ui prevailed over Kurimu Sakurano 2196-1989.

Also picking up a sweep was Bakemonogatari. Hitagi Senjougahara pummeled Mei Sunohara 2346-1628 and Nadeko Sengoku demolished Ikaros 2524-1440.

In other ISML action...Rin Tosaka cruised past Nodoka Haramura 2784-1054, Kotomi Ichinose defeated Nanoha Takamachi 2115-1840, Fate Testarossa trounced Hanyuu Furude 2394-1357, Konata Izumi rolled past Mihoko Fukuji 2080-1062 and Yuki Nagato annihilated Illyasviel von Einzbern 2684-1625.

Holo chomped up Nymph 2565-1320, Tomoyo Sakagami took down Ruiko Saten 2602-1484, Nagi Sanzen'in bowled past Tsukasa Hiiragi 2830-1329 and Haruhi Suzumiya whipped past Louise Francoise Le Blanc De La Valliere 2689-1546.

Wrapping up ISML action this day...C.C. defeated Minatsu Shiina 2189-1837. Mafuyu Shiina defeated Ushio Okazaki 2483-1511 and Nagisa Furukawa squaked past Maria 2141-1995.
