Another year of the International Saimoe League, the world's premier anime character competition, is underway. Match Day 1 of the ISML 2017 Aquamarine Period is in the books. In the Female Division, Mashiro Shiina routed Kagari Atsuko 1406-282, Yoshino silenced Mirai Kuriyama 1035-679, Chitoge Kirisaki prevailed over Nico Yazawa 860-788, Yukino Yukinoshita flatened Sakura Matou 1183-526, Mitsuha Miyamizu demolished Eli Ayase 1039-623, Kumiko Oumae thrashed Mumei 789-677, Saber slashed past Momoka Sonou 1182-517 and Mizuki Usami scored the closest victory of the round in the Female Division, a 754-735 nailbiter over Erina Nakiri.

Jibril flew past Rory Mercury 1044-588, Rin Tousaka smashed Kagami Hiiragi 1146-576, Eriri Sawamura Spencer defeated Nagi San'zenin 932-667, Kuroyukihime dismantled Kirino Kousaka 1071-640, Kurisu Makise pounded Yuno Gasai 1139-527, Maki Nishikino tore down Yumemi Hoshino 979-601 and Miyuki Shiba won a 816-794 barnburner over Kyouko Kirigiri.

In the Male Division, former champion Hachiman Hikigaya routed Miyoshi 1261-159, Hayata Ayasaki cruised past Augu Mikazuki 910-303, Ayato Amagiri scored a 600-599 Upset of the Round over Kamina that doubled as the closest victory of the round, Yuzuru Otonashi show down Yang Wenti 1303-156, Izaya Orihara blew past Soushi Miketsukami 745-522, Yuu Otosaka tore apart Adlet Mayer 972-419, Archer shot down Kei Nagai 1161-294 and Gilgamesh defeated Iskandar 862-579.

Bell Cranel rolled past Conan Edogawa 856-623, Koyomi Araragi slaughtered Kojou Akatsuki 942-488, Saika Totsuka defeated Ikki Kurogane 810-595, Ainz Ooai Gowl smashed Shouyuu Hinata 774-451, Kiritsugu Emiya blew past Haruhiro 969-482, Kyousuke Natsume scored a hoem run over Nagito Komaeda 722-516 and Umetarou Nozaki defeated Arata Kaizaki 750-577.

In Tournament of Champions action, the current Saimoe Prime Minister, Shana, crushed Hinagiku Katsura 1237-530 while Accelerator stormed past Hideyoshi Kinoshita 940-770.
